Practical, Versatile Surfaces for Everyday Laboratory Use
Postform and conventional laminate countertops are practical choices for educational, write-up, dry and general laboratory areas where exposure to aggressive chemicals, high heat and prolonged moisture is limited.
Both options use a decorative laminate bonded to a supporting substrate. A postform top is heated and formed around the front edge to create a continuous rounded profile. A conventional laminate countertop remains flat and uses a separate edge treatment. They are construction options within one practical countertop family, but they are not the same as self-supporting compact laboratory-grade surfaces such as SURFORMA® Labgrade or Fundermax Max Resistance².

Postform and conventional laminate countertops offer a versatile solution where a practical work surface is required without the performance specification of specialist laboratory-grade materials.
Both constructions consist of a decorative laminate bonded to a supporting substrate. The key difference is how the countertop is finished at the front edge.
A postform countertop uses heat to form the laminate continuously around the front edge, creating a smooth rounded profile. A conventional laminate countertop has a flat laminate surface with a separately applied edge detail.
These options are well suited to areas where everyday practicality and cost-effectiveness are important, but where the countertop is not expected to withstand continuous exposure to aggressive chemicals, high temperatures or standing moisture.

POST FORM TOPS
Laminate is formed around the front edge. Suitable for general laboratory and educational use where sealed surfaces and practical everyday durability are required. Indicative cost: $$; impact and wear: Good.

Fabrication & Detailing
Correct fabrication is essential. Joints, cut-outs, sink areas and exposed substrate edges must be properly sealed, and the selected edge profile must suit the intended use and cleaning regime.
Material Note
Avoid frequent aggressive chemical exposure, direct heat and prolonged moisture. Confirm the laminate, substrate, adhesive and edge construction for the intended application.
